Last Dek Hockey

This past Saturday was the kid's last Junior Penguins Dek Hockey game.
They had a blast, and Rylan was excited to be the goalie. You can see from the pictures how huge the equipment is on him. The league level he's in is for 6 and 7 year olds. Rylan is 4.

When Rylan plays the goalie position, Brayden likes to play defense, and does a WONDERFUL, SKILLFUL job protecting the goalie. In fact, Rylan doesn't have to do a thing when Bray's on defense. ;)

They were very excited at the end to get a trophy and Penguin hat.

I can't believe the 08-09 ice hockey season registration is June 1st already!

I don't know if 'grandma comments' are welcomed, but aren't they a wonderful and loving family? If you read more of this blog you will notice that they have begun homeschooling both children and with children this age they want to know everything!
Many object to this form of education stating that the boys will lack social involvement. Not in this family, and in most of the homeschooled. The parents are involved with their children's ideas and interests. They can expand upon them and introduce them to new ones at any time without following the school year schedule. Parents have so little time to spend with their kids if the parent works 2nd or 3rd shift, or travels. Imagine just being able to take your child to lunch and the museum on a dreary Wednesday,or hiking the woods looking for bugs and edible plants.
Kate and Bryan have always done these things when the children were younger, now a special time is set aside each day for a more formal setting. The youngest LOVES money. So they are studying and learning money (which includes addition)
I always read to Kate and now she reads to her boys; they bring new books for me to read to them often. If I have no fear for their education being their grandma, I do not believe it should be a worry for anyone.
