Easter Part 2

I was about to create a new blog post, and found more Easter pics on my camera- so these first. We had an egg hunt at Aunt Sue's!

Brayden spotted some Easter eggs on the trampoline this morning while looking out the kitchen window. We were hoping the eggs would be discovered after it warmed up a bit. No such luck.

Happy Easter!

Today we braved the dye mess and made Easter Eggs! It went well, not spills or mess. My hands were a bit blue, but it has worn off already.

The kids had a great time, and were very creative.

Rylan's first egg had "Rylan" (heart) "Brayden" written on it :)

Then they made "MOM" and "DAD" eggs.

Later, they got their Easter present!
Its from a fellow hockey player who is involved in 4H. This little guy (?) is about 8 weeks old. Daddy bunny chewed through Mommy bunny's cage, so this little guy was a surprise. We choose not to support pet breeders.

Jr. Penguins Dec Hockey- Brayden is the once closest to the camera- red shirt, black pants playing awesome defense. Rylan is on the opposite side with a black shirt and black pants. Rylan almost scores about 1/2 way through. And that's him walking off after getting hit in the leg, but he was OK :)

Singleton

Over the years, I've had people ask me if Bray and Rylan are twins. The do resemble each other, but honestly they are virtually inseparable. They always want to be together. Even though sometimes I think they would benefit from a break from one another every now and then, they strongly disagree.

Yesterday, they were playing at a a park and Rylan had to come home (long story, but Ry didn't follow safety rules so he had to come home). Brayden was devastated as was Rylan. They both cried, clung to each other and pleaded to stay together. Brayden offered to come home with Rylan since Rylan wasn't permitted to stay and play. Rylan cried for a couple of hours, played a little, then held his post by the driveway, waiting for Bray. It was both heartwarming and pathetic at the same time.

Hockey Banquet

Hockey Season is officially OVER. Yea!, (sort of). I do miss watching them play, and socializing with the other parents. Missing the stinky hockey gear , freezing my butt off or taking 30 minutes to dress the goalie? Not so much. We were able to register for next season at the banquet. The perk in doing so is a raffle for a dues discount- lets hope we won. Two kids in ice hockey isn't exactly frugal. Even with buying all used gear, and one getting mostly hand me downs.

The banquet was nice. All of the players on our team were recognized during our head coach's speech. That was nice for the kids. The boys were happy to see their teammates again. Hopefully we'll see many of them next year as well. Brayden has been asked to attend the AA tryouts for the goalie position next month. The AA division is an "elite" highly skilled team. If he does not make the cut, he can still try out for the A or B team in August. He wants to try. Because they are ahead of schedule school wise, I fit in an extra day a week to use as goalie practice times. At our local ice rinks, goalies get free admission to "stick time" or open hockey ice time. Tomorrow he tries out for a goalie position for indoor inline hockey. So, he'll be getting some practice this spring there as well. Not to mention the practice in the basement and yard. And skate park. Geesh. He is obsessed. Rylan wants to play defense and maybe goal tend too. They will be in different divisions next season.

The kids were disappointed they didn't get trophies or plaques this year. Instead, they got T shirts and little hockey bags. Bummer. Our team manager make scrapbooks for each of the players, and they turned out SO NICE!
